Life,Faith, and Disability is the online blog of Mike Matthews. Mike is a ordained minister, and civil rights advocate for people with disabilities.Mike was born with cerebral palsy in 1981, and was raised by his grandparents Tom and Janet Matthews. He came to faith in Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior at 19, but it wasn’t till he was around 21 that he started to take his relationship with God serious. After reading 2 Corinthians 12:9, which says My grace is sufficient, for my power is made perfect in weakness, Mike realized cp or no cp all he needed is Jesus. At 24, he felt called into ministry and along with preaching God placed a desire on his heart to start a youth group at his church, and for over 3 years his future wife Robin and him were the youth leaders. Mike has preached in churches, youth groups, and homeless shelters. So, Why LFD? Mike created The LFD blog because as a Christian with cp, he has learned there is a lot of misconceptions about why people suffer, about the Gospel, and life in general. LFD is mike’s attempt to help people to understand life, and the joy that is in Jesus Christ no matter your circumstances.
7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.- 2Corinthians 12:7-10
